We will price your plan "as is" at no charge. No drawings or designs are included. A Design Retainer will be required for any changes requested.

Design/Layout Services - Design Retainer

A full design retainer is for those individuals who need a professional to create design solutions. The retainer is dependent on the scope of the services requested. This may include (but not limited to) job site inspection and measurements, certified plans, product selection/specification, consultation time. Design services are offered at an hourly rate. Our retainer is in proportion to our high level of professionalism and the generous amount of time we allow for your design to full and naturally evolve.

  • As a new client, we will begin the process by meeting to discuss your plans and lifestyle. Inefficiencies in storage and/or work habits will be discussed and new ideas and solutions will be proposed. We will use an extensive survey form that will clearly list all the details of how your kitchen (or bath) is used, thus providing an instruction manual to create the perfect new room. We will take time to fully understand how your cabinetry needs to function, work into the architecture of your room, and how it serves your family's needs. This is the foundation for our design work. It must be comprehensive.
  • Design phase will offer truly original, creative and functional design solutions. Discussion and review will be encouraged considering the pros and cons of each concept, perhaps combining ideas.
  • Considerations are given to a family’s lifestyle, cooking and entertaining habits.
  • After a plan is chosen interior cabinet options, exterior molding details and ornamentation, including color and texture, will discussed. Your space will ultimately be fine tuned to incorporate every last detail.
  • We strongly believe our clients are happiest when they have control over the cost of their materials. We work hard via an extensive plan review and patient product research to provide cost options for you, where appropriate.
  • At the appropriate time, we will produce a comprehensive separate electrical/mechanical plan, should you need one. This plan encompasses locations and precise dimensioning for lighting, switching, appliance locations and notes on same. We also provide a complete package of specs for all appliances and are available to meet with your contractor, electrician, plumber or HVAC tradesperson to discuss this critical part of your renovation.
